Counter Narrate

This Counter Narrate homepage was launched in Winter 2025 alongside the publication of the February 2025 essay “Resist Anticipatory Obedience” by CUNY faculty members Michelle Fine and Elizabeth Bishop. We have continued dialogues since then, hyperlinked below. We have a series of important dialogues lined up in the months ahead with scholars, organizers and community committed to sustaining our humanity in “revolting times” (Fine, 2016).

In February 2025, we also launched an archive entitled “Public Offering: Archive of Resistance and Subversion (POARS).” We have moved slowly in collecting artifacts from our wider community. Visit the archive page below to learn more about that effort. We take the protection of individual identities extremely seriously in the context of publishing in 2026 in the U.S. and internationally.
